Conceptual poster design: A Digital Genesis
For this project, we drew inspiration from the creation story of humankind in the Garden of Eden. According to the Midrash—a rabbinic method of interpreting the Bible—Lilith, not Eve, was Adam’s first wife. Lilith was banished from the garden by God after refusing to be subservient to Adam. However, she later reappears as the serpent, inspiring Eve to take a bite of the infamous apple from the forbidden tree.
Lilith’s presence brings a fresh perspective to this age-old story. In this interpretation, Lilith embodies independence, autonomy, and knowledge. Rather than viewing her as a temptress who lured Eve into sin, we see her as a positive force, encouraging Eve to forge her own path. The forbidden fruit ceases to symbolize wrongdoing; instead, it represents the pursuit of transcendence, with eating it becoming an act of liberation.
